Photo from Guatamala that inspired the paining.
While on medical mission trips in Guatemala, the patients would have sweet smiles of joy while being cared for by the clinicians. Although the communities were extremely poor, many wove their own clothes of brilliantly colorful patterns, often reflective of the amazingly beautiful flowers in the country. This painting shows one patient with a sweet smile while being cared for by a doctor, with a healing touch, wearing her wonderfully colorful garments.

22 (w) x 30 (h) Oil on Canvas, 2022 After being in charge of triaging patients for three (3) days, I was walking along a river in Guatemala. Suddenly, I experienced a wonderful calm, quiet, feeling of grace. Looking at the scene, I found it strange cactus was growing inside a rotted tree along a water source. I hope you find the sense of peace, a moment of healing, while viewing this piece.

The people who came to the clinics would sometimes wait outside in the hot sun for up to five hours, and they always had grateful smiles on their faces. The handmade clothing worn was artistry. Rose Rohloff
